Single Sign-On (SSO)

Many of W3C TAG systems support Single Sign-On (SSO). In addition to providing a consistent log in experience, Single Sign-On shares your log in session across all supported systems so that you’re not required to log in again when switching between systems.

 Logging In

Systems that support SSO will present a common log in page similar to the one below:

SSO Log In Page

Before entering your password, be sure the URL in your web browser contains https://sso.w3ctag.org/ to prevent exposing your password to a malicious website (a phishing attack).

Systems that do not support SSO will present their own log in interface. Both SSO and non-SSO systems use the same username and password. Non-SSO systems that support two-factor authentication (2FA) will require their own 2FA setup.

 Logging Out

Logging out of systems that support SSO can be confusing. The SSO server and the individual systems each maintain their own log in session. Logging out of the SSO server will not necessarily log you out of other systems, although it will require you to re-enter your password when logging back in.

Furthermore, some systems do not support Single Sign-Out, so logging out of that system will not log you out of the SSO server.

For proper security, especially when accessing W3C TAG systems from a shared computer, be sure to log out of each system that you used individually.
